"I Have a Dream!" 50th Anniversary - Washington DC

2013 will mark the 50th anniversary of one of the most moving and poignant events of the last century – the delivery of the “I Have a Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.  The words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. have inspired millions across the world since they day they were spoken on August 8, 1963.

To commemorate this historic speech, and this pivotal time in American History, Outstanding bands, choirs and orchestras from across the country will be invited to join us in Washington, DC.  The American Musical Salute to Freedom, Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of “I Have a Dream” will take place beginning in March, 2013, and will continue through August of next year.

Performances will be staged on the plaza of the Lincoln Memorial – the very same memorial in which Dr. King stood 50 years ago.  Following their performance, every group will have the opportunity to visit the beautiful new MLK Memorial.

While in DC, groups will have the opportunity to tour and experience many of the attractions that make our Nation's Capital great.  From the majesty of its marble and granite Monuments and Memorials, to the contents of its displays and artifacts in the museums, Washington DC provides an experience that brings lessons learned in the classroom to life.  There is truly no place like DC in the world, and we hope you and your group will take advantage of this experience of a lifetime!

Official Event Dates:  March 15-18, 2013; April 18-21, 2013; May 2-5, 2013
